The
Welcome
Home
Day
Foundation
is
a
grass-roots non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization founded by non-veterans.
Our
mission
it
is
to
produce
a
one-time
national
event
in
Washington,
D.C.
where
the
people
of
the
United
States
would
come
together
in
reconciliation
over
our
differences
concerning
the
Vietnam
War
to
give
our
Veterans
their
long
overdue
Welcome
Home.
GOALS:
-
Unite
our
country
in
reconciliation
over
this controversial
war.
-
Provide
our
Vietnam
Veterans
with
their
long
overdue,
"Welcome
Home."
*
-
Acknowledge
the
sacrifices
of
our
Veterans
and
their
families
and
friends,
the
people
who
were
there
for
them
during
the
most
difficult
of
times.
-
Salute
those
who
supported
our
soldiers
**
-
Enable
history
to
record
the
honor,
heroism,
and
positive
achievements
of
Vietnam
veterans.
-
Support
those
who,
for
more
than
25
years,
have
worked
tirelessly
on
behalf
of
Vietnam
Veterans.
.
Important
Note:
The
Welcome
Home
Day
Foundation
is
not
about
rehashing
the
merits
of
the
Vietnam
War.
The
history
of
the
war
is
important,
so
that
we
can
better
understand
what
Vietnam
Veterans
and
their
families
have
gone
through.
Regardless
of
whether
the
war
was
right
or
wrong,
American
soldiers
were
willing
to
give
their
lives
(as
over
58,000 did)
to
protect
another
country
and
its
people.
A
country
always
needs
a
portion
of
its
population
willing
to
answer
the
call
to
duty.
Freedom
is
never
free!.
*
The
Vietnam
veterans
Memorial
Wall
was
dedicated
in
1982.
It
was
estimated
that
only
150,000
people
showed
up.
In
the
past,
several
cities
and
towns
across
the
country
have
held
local
welcome
home
events.
Our
event
will
be a
National
Event.
The
experience
of
the
Vietnam
Veteran
is
unique
to
each
one
of
them,
and
their
Welcome
Home
Day
should
be
unique
too,
not
tied
to
any
other
event.

The
troops
returned
home
one-at-a
time
over
the
course
of
the
war.
Many
people
who
supported
these
troops
never
had
the
opportunity
to
let
them
know
how
they
felt.
